Goodbye Poem by Daniel Parker

Goodbye

A couple of old pictures, are all that now remain,
Someday I will repay you, I'll carry on your name,
My memories stay with me, I always see your face,
I sit and cry for you sometimes, and that is no disgrace

I feel your being daily, I know that you are near,
I don't want to forget you, in life, my only fear,
It's hard to live without you, my father figure gone,
I'll make you proud to call, me the first, the first grandson,

I know that life's not perfect, we all must suffer pain,
But I don't seem to understand, what I am yet to gain?
Since that day you left us, my heart has gone so cold,
I long to come and see you, return to times of old,

I'd give my life, my being, to be with you once more,
The pain that I have gone through, there's plenty more in store,
But now I must grow stronger, for them, for me, for you,
For that is now my mission, protect them, I must do,

Just know that I remember, your face stays in my mind,
The way you raised me, smiling, you taught me to be kind,
I know that you are listening, somewhere way up above,
From me, the family, hear us, Grandad we send our love,

A loss of grand proportion, a hero that is gone,
I love you dear, and always, but now, I must move on,

Of all the angels singing, I hear you loud and clear,
For when your voice is loudest, is when I have no fear,
So when I'm feeling lonely, I'll look into the sky,
And see the man who raised me, I'll never say goodbye.

That was a sweet poem, very emotional and once again very well written. You have a gift as a poet :)
