Goodbye To Thy Tiger Poem by Jessica Thomas

Goodbye To Thy Tiger

Tiger, if you could be held in my arms,

Would you be kind or must it always bring harm?

I desired many things unsaid, if only the chance.

It has become more and more like a sacred dance.

Hoping and craving, just one sign.

Is it possible to become mine?

Why never one sign of the attraction?

Was it never there and it’s fabrication?

If only once, treasured for eternity,

And it’s unexplained why.

Is there a passage between the old and new?

Can I have it or has it already passed through?

I long for the tiger like nothing else before.

Something wanted, something gained, yet not this for score.

Move, move along and say goodbye.

It’s possible someday the tiger may re-arrive.

My heart may break and the pain felt nigh.

The tiger never caught for one moment shared,

For one to fully know what to even compare.

The jolts and writhing must end with his departure.

For I must fully understand, no tiger was captured.

Just thinking it makes my heart feel saddened.

For not once were all the thoughts collected,

Nor were my truest feelings revealed.

It needs explained so I am no longer tortured.

Give me one final chance before your departure.
