Grains Of Sand Poem by Rebecca Davies

Grains Of Sand

Rating: 5.0

It's about a girl i read about who had amnesia and it took her years to remember everything but she didn't give up and she got some memory back eventually from reading all her old diaries and stuff. Please be nice about it, i know it's not very good, but i tried :)

Peacefully she perches on her rock of thought
a search for stolen memories of her life before.
Fragments of shells like shattered dreams litter the sand;
an inexplicable feeling she can't quite understand.
She clutches her journal eager to find
the shadow of a girl she left behind.
Slowly she tests the waters of the sea she faces,
reading snippets from random places.
When suddenly, a spurt of bravery and she dives for a boat,
launching into a storm of words she once wrote.
Shifting through hopes like the swell of the tide,
diving to a place where her dreams still hide.
She folds away the corners of significant phrases,
searching through lost memories, mazes.
reaching for that life boat normality can throw,
desperate to escape from murky waters below.

A simple memory she grasps for in the depths of her mind
As she hangs her drenched clothes on the washing line.

And for a second she holds it,
in the palm of her hand,
'till it slips through her fingers;
grains of sand.
