Grand Canyon Poem by david lessard

Grand Canyon

Rating: 5.0

How can you put into words,
something that takes your breath away?
How can you capture on film,
What encompasses the heart?
How is it possible to paint and reproduce,
an original work of art?
How does one describe,
A walk into time?

Footsteps falling away into
timeless eras of yesterday.
Beauty forever changing
imperceptively, before your eyes.
Vastness on a scale so great
that any measurements are
futile indicators of its true dimensions.

How can you put into words,
something that takes your
breath away?
Something that encompasses the heart?
An orginal work of art?
A walk into time?

It's something that you need
to experience yourself,
to understand,
just what it is I'm saying,
or not saying.

You never depend on the status quo to get your thought across. And that's a beautiful thing..here especially. The thought of doing justice to the Grand Canyon is intimidating to me, but you carried it off with great style and discipline of pen.
