Grandmother A Matriach To Me Poem by Anthony Han

Grandmother A Matriach To Me

It has been a year
Without you in our lives
So much is happening now
More than it ever has

Big changes for everyone of us
Since your passing left me dysfunctional
In spirit as you watch over
I still miss you of course

We will always remember you
Deep within our hearts
Not a day goes by
Where I don't think of such a wonderful soul

At times I look at my phone
About to dial your number
To give some good news
Wonder what you are up to

Only to remember your not there anymore
Since as early I can recall
You have been the best role model
Going through much yourself

Yet still able to oppress weakness
Difficulties of living
While reminding us of what the right way of life is
Grandmother you were the only grandparent of mine

Grateful to have been born with you present
Because as much as the world howls at me
I'll hold in the single fact that
We had you in our lives

So I go through life
With strong goals of success
Since you were the one who helped me reach
Such a compromise with myself

Only I regret not to have had
Enough wits to converse with such a wise person
The other fact of the matter
You were like a matriarch to me

Not that others may have noticed
But deep down inside aside from the actions
You always knew how to lead and what to say
I will continue to spread your will

The reason I could not finish this write
The ideas behind why I could never put it right
I could not finish this write for you
Because I had to find who I truly am to you
