Grasp Poem by Kathryn Kubacki

Grasp

Strong hands
Tight grip
Curled fingers
Wrap around my throat

Can't breath
Fading breath
Blue lips
Eyes rolled back

Struggle
No release

Lungs burn
Heart slows

His white smile
Curved to perfection
Insane eyes glare
The intense stare into my soul

Begging thoughts
I slip away

Suddenly, the grip is gone
Air floods in
Sputter to the floor

A look of horror
What have I done

Strong hands
Tight grip
Lift me from the floor

Hold steady
Tears of sorry
Anguished sobs

No forgiveness
