Great Philosophers Thumbed Bottle Fed Poem by Terence George Craddock

Great Philosophers Thumbed Bottle Fed

it rained on the parade soggy paper washed again
all the words words glorious words down the drain
weep for heavily hand thumbed fingers stained pages
life leaf turned over heart loved hand-worn volumes

entombed volumes philosophy of Aristotle pulped gone
past minds a few busied studied 'the great philosophers'
supplied straw thoughts learned grand profound quotes
a carrot goal to appear smarter than shadow self others

view the library dusted off proud aligned much read books
ah 'the great philosophers' esteemed for wisdom for wits
rehearsed for cut out university poked in perceptive titbits

make me seem smarter than I am bait researched quotations
make me a digital maritime analogy with identity gene splices
wisdom pages keeps me anchored drifting in ambiguous waters

it rained on the parade pulp soggy paper washed again
all the words words glorious words down gutter drain
