Green Team Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Green Team

Rating: 5.0

His front door cost more than my home
My old boots would not cross this threshold
A gated community, a world of his own
He built his mansion with the money he stole

A pillar of the community, or so he thought
His corporation was all about winning and greed
The fat cat grew fatter with the power he bought
His mother and father had planted the seed

The token trifle, the patronizing public charity
His corporation was progressive and 'green'
He carefully managed his appearance for publicity
Surrounding himself with a multicolored team

Yet just like the others it was all there for show
The image he weaved was as false as his hair
Blue team, red team it's all the same you know
Ask the cagey green team if they truly care

So sure we know the score and where to point the blame
With indignation they rally, they congregate and shout
The usual suspects rounded up and treated all the same
While the pied pipers will choose whom to leave out

Yet just like the others it was all there for show The image he weaved was as false as his hair Greed and power with a corrupt heart is enough to trample million dreams.... Their hunger for power is insatiable and they can go to any extent to achieve that. Thought provoking poem 10
