Gryphon Poem by Cheryl McDonnell

Gryphon

Never another step of strength
Shall pass my door while I am with you
You are more powerful now
So take flight

I miss strength
Before the march of red
Took all I was worth
Plunge a knife in the open wound

Did I once stand guard
Above my all
Watching as the walls turn to paste
No reasons left here to defend

A mix of the purest
Counts me out
I am fertile and that is all
A laden waste

So reach me while my heart still throbs
Crack the lid on my tomb
Let the light seep back
A fractured bone I am.
