Guess We'll Never Know

You always asked for me to show
Whatever I think or feel inside.
But you will never know
Of all the sleepless nights I'd lie awake and cry..

You are absolutely perfect,
And it makes me wonder if you're real.
But I am so imperfect,
That I hate the way I feel..

So, I will never show
What I would do for you.
And you will never know
How hard I tried to keep myself with you.
(alternative: How hard I tried to keep it/myself together in front of you)

All the rest of the world knows,
'Cause they can see it on my face.
I hope that to you it never shows,
'Cause you've already showed me my place.

You told me I'm your best friend,
But you're so much more to me.
We said we'd be together 'til the end,
But I know that will never be.

I can't stand to watch you go,
Just to sit around waiting for you.
Knowing that I will never know
How it feels to be with you

But I will always love you
Even if you don't want me to.
