Guthrie Under A Tree Poem by John McCornack

Guthrie Under A Tree

Come and join me in celebrating
the wonderful World of Guthrie
Back in time when men wore guns
and the women were all free

A visit to the Blue Belle Saloon
was made nearly every day
It was such a wonderful life
because everyone did it their way

A hundred years have passed
since we started keeping score
We all look back and wonder
why life is now such a bore

Oh.. How we all yearn for that
wonderful World of Guthrie
Where men wore guns and
Miss Lizzie drank coke under a tree
