Gypsy Poem by Richard Cohen

Gypsy

' GYPSY'
By Richard David Cohen

She is always around me in every room I am

Sometimes I hear her stir or sigh

She is near her end here and is slowing

She is the warmest and the sweetest soul

Others have come and gone away

She remains always listening asking nothing

She does not judge or care what I am

She knows not of money or of prejudice

The worlds just me and her, she needs no more

She no longer gets up to greet me

Her eyes weep her legs fail her

She dreams sometimes of chasing rabbits

She will howl long at imaginary moons

Her face is white now we both do not care

She only is here to do one thing alone

She just is here to love me, to make me smile

New loves, new jobs, some anger, some joy

Children no longer have time for her

I know her days are dwindling as are all of ours

She is my beautiful Gypsy

She is always near me
