    Amusing Haiku....
This can be interpreted in many ways and in many terms......Simply superb. (Report) Reply

a beautiful haiku, indeed, but one of despair - I'd say (probably because of Shiki's illness) .
See the following [a hokku by Basho]: there is not that 'emptiness' in Basho's verse.. the moon is shining in all its beauty:

'' a cuckoo cries / and through a thicket of bamboo / the late moon shines ''

    [Matsuo Basho]

Speechless...a worthy descendant of the great haiku pieces! Profound and expressive, the cuckoo is probably his despair to the supposed assurance of recent happy events. It presents the real, empty, shallow attitude of(his?) world. (Report) Reply
