Hail Good Coachman Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Hail Good Coachman

Rating: 5.0

Throw your phone down a cobblestone road
A liberating rush reverberates
The thrill of rugged rockon plastic
A joy impossible to relate

Shattered, scattered buttons and screens
Rest in puddles pocked with stone
A gaslight humming in the night
You hail the coach and head home

Across the foggy north town bridge
You bathe in the midnight air
The steam rises from the horses back
As coach and beast race you there

Rest easy on this magical voyage
Let the clattering hooves charm your ears
Let the jostling ride bounce you awake
No more sorrow, regrets or tears.

This poem takes the reader back in time. I remember reading classics from Victorian era and I was intrigued by the atmosphere...the coaches, the carriages, the street lamps n all that. You have put the theme of existence in beautiful imagery. A coach ride as a metaphor for life is a great idea. Let the jostling ride bounce you awake....of course life is not always a smooth journey but the jerks should wake us to reality n we must learn from them rather than regret. Enjoyed reading it very much.
