Hallowed Be Her Name Poem by Michael Green

Hallowed Be Her Name

Hallowed be her name
I hear it once and cringe with pain
In passion nights I cried out loud
That same name I disavow

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was inspired by how a simple name can sometimes hold so much power over you. I was out at a function and was introduced to a girl who happened to have the same name as my ex-girlfriend. Just hearing that name brought up elated memories of the past when the name was angel-like and represented the definition of love. In the present though, that same name only stirs up pangs of heartache. The poem itself is short but I think it sums up the confliction the name holds for me.
