Hand To Hand Hearts Unshaken Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Hand To Hand Hearts Unshaken

Hand to Hand Hearts Unshaken

If there is a way for me to fashion upon you
a drapery

it shall be clasped at your soft neckline
with my gentle stroke
soft folds
winding
your body full
gentle mouth breezes
soothing
velvet tones vibrant
years still resounding
hearts still pounding
eyes still flash
lips caressing
gentler than they used to
yet deeper than they used to;
meaningful;

Wisdom is what life teaches
joy is the hearts realm
passion rises body born
all three
still reside here
each other's comfort

You've soothed my rough edges
taught me calm
I like to think I shared those secrets
love and trust brings
together we
stand now side by side
amid wedding invitations
bright digital videos
beside sepia photos

love still remains
for those present
and those departed.

Our bodies made
children and memories
renewed life year by year
realizing that in the end
all each of us have
is each other
forever bound;

caterwauling sometimes
tears of joy
those of pain
but all
ours
through sweet spring times
warmest winters
red nights
and golden suns
conflict and resolution
each there for the other
against storm and trial
against wily
gale-force winds
we endured
sustained
that magic in our hearts
a gift
a miracle.

We face now
our tomorrows
bound
by paths taken
still
side by side
hands clasped
unshaken.

What a gorgeous poem on two people residing as one. So much warmth and love in this tale of two who are truly soulmates for eternity.
