Hang The Ballast Poem by Joshua Scott

Hang The Ballast

How do you fuel your lies,
With good intent,
While drowning in your perfect arrogance,
How can you trade the truth,
For the upper hand,
While slowly building castles in the sand,

You fell in love,
When I fell asleep,
But closing eyes were opened in my dreams,
And you turn and ran away,
Too soon it seems,
Forcing me to swim inside these memories,

So burn your passion for him in your eyes,
Your lust reveals the secrets that you hide,
And I will hang the ballast,
Of what you left behind,
And suffer every single wasted lie,
Your wasted lies,

Imprisoned by the thought of mortal sin,
Paralyzing all your love for him,
As I became entangled in your skin,
So bury the pictures in your cell,
The ones that I remember well,
And I'll save a place inside this hell,

So burn your passion for him in your eyes,
Your lust reveals the secrets that you hide,
And I will hang the ballast,
Of what you left behind,
And suffer every single wasted lie,
Your wasted lies,

Paralyzing me, Paralyzing,
I can't feel my feet as I'm walking out the door,
Paralyzing me, Paralyzing,
I can't hear your words that you don't love me anymore,

So burn your passion for him in your eyes,
Your lust reveals the secrets that you hide,
And I will hang the ballast,
Of what you left behind,
And suffer every single wasted lie,
Your wasted lies,
