Hangover Poem by Tshering Dorji

Hangover

Clutching a whiskey bottle
With untied shoelace
Slouch and shriek
Then shriek and slouch.
Spurn friends—a shrill cry,
Pick stones,
Hit the street bulbs,
Swing around—
Sing slangy songs
Pee on the hedges
Near the street edges
And sleep in the drain
To wake up in the lock-up
And wonder how you got there,
Then trouble starts—
Limitless freedom
Led to limiting bondage! ! !
My goodness!
Life indeed is a bundle
of opposite.
