He Walks Into My Night Poem by Edwina Reizer

He Walks Into My Night

He walks into my night
with a manful stride.
I watch in fascination
which I try to hide.

He stares and finds
my eyes on him
and now the pretense
does begin.

He approaches slowly
and then he smiles.
I shrink like a violet
and all the while

my heart is beating
a syncopated beat.
My face is flushed
with searing heat.

He touches my face.
I stand quite still.
He's walked into my night
and I know I will

surrender to his manly ways
and remember only this,
the feel of my body trembling
and the taste of my very first kiss.
