He Was My Life Poem by Lora Colon

He Was My Life

Rating: 3.0

He was my life, he was a thousand stars
That came to fill my empty sky,
He lit the path that brought me home
When I was lost and didn't know why

He was my life, his kisses, like red wine,
Would leave my thoughts in disarray,
He showered my heart with sunbeams,
Vanquishing clouds of black and gray

He was my life, he opened Heaven's door,
Finally blessed, my life was worthwhile,
He helped me walk down rocky paths,
And his love brought me through each trial

He was my life, he washed away my pain,
From my sorrow he untied me,
Now my heart's music has been stilled,
My most cherished dream, denied me

He was my life, then my dream was shattered
By some dark and unholy things,
How I long to fly from this pain.....
How do you fly with broken wings?

He was my life, but now shadows obscure
A dying heart, struggling again
To beat within this cold, dark tomb,
They say time will heal all..... but when!

What a sad poem. I hope it's all from your wonderful, creative imagination and not based on real life experiences. Well written, indeed.
