Headache Poem by Dillon Gay

Headache

My head falters me so
What it is I do not know
Sinus drainage it may be
Such a cruel bodily function to me

I move my head for relief
Though it pains more beyond belief
The ache will not cease
Because it is such a mocking tease

My brain is breaking from my skull
Or so I think for the aching is far from dull
The mucus is pushing out of my skin
Replacing all thoughts that have been

I've taken my medicine now
The sweat has disappeared from my brow
Pain is now of limited existence
Separated with a memory of distance
