Heart's Delight Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Heart's Delight

Rating: 5.0

The kite
clutched to your chest

as if your heart
had escaped

glorying in yellow
& red

your fingertips
releasing it to the sky

where like
a prayer

searching for a God
it knew

it flew

like a wish

lost between clouds

now impossible now real

my heart now too
dancing next to you

we chase each other
across a vast immensity of blue

kite tails
twirling like laughter

spiralling with delight

cutting the sky
into shapes

that shift
and change

entangled now

brought back to earth

out of breath

we run

gather the other’s
heart

into our trembling
hands

souls embodied
now

still in the sky.

As always, when you speak of love, you twine the words around my heart, just like the tail of this kite...flying freely into that blue sky, and gathered up by you! Beautifully told, tenderly written...love as it should be!

Oh Donall this is just so touchingly beautiful. Both imagery and tale tangle together in my heart and my soul flies through all those wonderful skies of symbolism and real love. You've got my heart on a string and you just pull it in. love GinaXXX
