Heaven On Earth Poem by Maddy Sexton

Heaven On Earth

Waking up every morning to birds chirping is music to my ears
Missing friends is hard but the calmness of the lake won’t let me shed a tear
Family kayak races as if we are “Going For The Gold”
“Be careful not to tip over” is what I’m always told
Tanning by the lake as if I’m cookies baking
Soaking up the sun is what I’m loving
Going tubing on the boat and swimming in the middle of the lake
Remember to watch out for the wave runners and the waves that they make
Hanging with cousins is what really makes Michigan great
Relaxing at the lake with sand and water as our mate
Bonfires at night help to end the day
Sitting around to reflect, meditate, and say…
Spending time with family is always an adventure at the lake
