Heaven's Tears Poem by Zishan Mahmud

Heaven's Tears

She stands there clinging to the ragged doll,

Staring into our world,

Her eyes brighten at the sight of the glitz,

And with dreams that will remain unheard...

He glances at her from across the street,

A sliver of pity is born,

But he is quick to shed it off,

Why care that she looks forlorn?

The angels no longer spread their wings,

The devil no longer fears,

In a treacherous world we live,

No more healed by Heaven's tears...

We no longer lament for the bereaved,

We no longer believe in myths,

Kindness belongs to folklore alone,

We've got our own lives to live.

The sun no longer shines upon this land,

Or lights the sky azure,

Maybe someday Heaven will weep again,

And goodness shall be restored...
