Helen Poem by Matthew Edan Oliver Palma

Helen

A thousand ships launched in your name
your beauty broke hearts of the few good men

Afraid to close my eyes cause I might miss you
Hold fast onto your hands lest in despair I lose you
You are a masterpiece to treasure
A work of art that's true

It's you who keeps my heart emboldened
Your touch can heal what in me is broken
It's you whose grace my dreams had beckoned
Your smile has kept my spirit beholden

Afraid to open my hands cause I might lose you
Dare stare into your eyes lest for a moment I miss you
You are this lifetime's great opus
A gem so rare and true

your love still weaves its mysteries
you still command men's fantasies
