Hell In Hispaniola, Hell In Haiti Poem by Hebert Logerie

Hell In Hispaniola, Hell In Haiti

Hell in Haiti; Hell in Santo Domingo.
Our brothers and sisters have nowhere to go,
No food, no housing, no clothes and nowhere to run.
Our people are being killed and gunned
Down
For simply being Haitian, Dominican and Black.
Our brothers and sisters cannot fight back
Now.
They are down, down.
I do not know how
To keep them out of Hell.
They need help; they are desperate.
Help me yell, Help me wail,
Help them, before it is too late.
Our people are being tortured every day.
Help me, help me, and help me pray
For them, because they are dying,
They are in pain, they are suffering.
Our people are living and dying in Hell.
They are dying in Hispaniola,
In Haiti, in Santo Domingo. Ave Maria!
Ave Maria! Virgin Mary, please tell
The Angels to come to rescue our people.
The Priests are wearing purple
Today. Our people are desperate,
They need everybody’s aid,
Before it is too late.
Let’s be strong, let’s not be afraid
To help those sons and daughters of the Lord.
Yes, we can; yes we can afford
To stop this unnecessary violence,
Let’s use our diligence and common sense.
Hell in Haiti; Hell in Santo Domingo.
Our brothers and sisters have nowhere to go.
Please dial a number; please call the United Nations,
Caricom and all Nations who can show great compassion.
