Helpless Destruction Poem by Billy Thompson

Helpless Destruction

Poverty rages nationwide
I can't feed the masses
War wages, and subdivide
My weapon is unloaded

Wake me when it's over

Miseducation, teachers under siege
I speak with one tongue
Women abused, babies plead
I'm a jury of one

Wake me when it's over

Political allies no longer help
I wonder if my vote counted
Smog stifles the air, ice caps melt
I walk in serious heat

Wake me when it's over
