Her Ocean Poem by Michelle Rainey

Her Ocean

Rating: 5.0

(Dedicated to Grayson Wolpert who changed our lives forever)

My life was once great
And then came that moment
And then came my end
Off a cliff I went
Downwards I plummeted
I slapped the ocean below
It smacked me back
Tossed by the waters
Thrashed by the waves
Beating me in rage
The sky opened up
Raindrops fell like acid
Burning my translucent skin
Flashes of lighting like knives
Striking my fragile heart
I was thrust against the rocks
A surge of unbearable pain ignited my veins
Bones shattered
Heart broken
The ruthless waves drew me back
Only to spit me out again into those rocks
Yet I was now numb and felt nothing
As I was shoved against my sharp enemies
I thought to myself
I am trapped
There is no way out
I wanted to cry
I wanted to scream
But no sound came out
I was too weak to speak
My body grew tired
I could not keep afloat
Collapsed
My body slowly fell
Sinking into the deep
Far below the surface
I gave up
It was a battle I could not win
And so my body gave in
All oxygen departed from my lungs
I had no chance
No faith
No hope
All was forever gone
Lost in the blue abyss
So I drowned
And my life was at end

This poem is dedicated to the way Grayson Wolpert may have felt in her last few moments although I can't even imagine what it was like, these are my thoughts on it. She was well loved and I wish that she had been gifted with more hope and faith but there are some things we just cannot change. We can't turn back the clock. We can only learn from this moment, grief, and move on with our lives keeping her close to our hearts. I love all of you always and forever. My faith is in Christ who strengthens me, let him strengthen you as well.

It's a tragic tale well told.
