Her Star Poem by Andrew Bell

Her Star

She plucked a star from the sky
and put it in a jar
The light from the star
won't be seen from afar
She holds it close
and holds it tight
In the jar her eternal light
It warms her and gives her hope
Illuminating faith to help her cope
Under the sheets she is safe
warm and clean
Untouched by the bad things
unheard and unseen
No shadow her light casts
nowhere for the bad things to hide
She keeps her dreams
and her secret inside
Innocence stolen by blood
has left her with scars
Life beyond her own
is now with the stars
So she plucked one from the sky
and put it in a jar
Her baby light
won't be seen from afar
She holds it close
and holds it near
With this light
she has no fear
He killed her future
so she has no past
His visit tonight
shall be the last
A father gone
and a daughter alone
A broken world
and a broken home
The star returns back to the sky
High above where angels fly
She lives there now
bright and free
Her starlight now
for all to see.
