Here I Stand... Poem by elisabeth james powell

Here I Stand...

Here I Stand before my beloved wife
There were many days we spent together,
We'd been through grief stricken heartache and strife
Through life our love seemed to last forever.
Your soft touch revealed your inner feelings
My love was not worth as much as thine own,
your pure eyes gave me a certain healing
We spent our long days playing telephone.
Even the trees our weeping at my loss
the angels look down and feel my despair,
My soul cries out to you until i cross
The pain in my heart is more than i can bare.
For now my thoughts are sent to you my dear
until the day when i can hold you near...
