Heroes Of Kargil Poem by Kaustubh Vadher

Heroes Of Kargil

Rating: 4.5

A child on asking 'who won the kargil for us? ',
Grandfather in a tone full of pride replies...

They were Heroes for life, heroes by will.
May they live long, heroes of kargil.

What once arrived was a time,
a time of invader's insanity.
They got squeezed like a lime,
by heroes with brutal humanity.

Heroes who taught invaders in '99,
of what lies beyond this side of line.
Heroes who avenged all 527 brothers,
bestowed with pride were the waiting mothers.

Heroes who resided distance apart,
from the darling child who ruled his heart.
Heroes who possessed a photo of his wife,
also of the mother who gifted him life.

Heroes who never bothered for luxury,
in love they fell with terrains and shrubbery
Heroes who acheived everything but the fame,
chanted 'who wants fame when hero is my name'.

Heroes who drew a jaw dropping face,
on invaders who only kept calling brace.
Heroes who showered souls into the fray,
outbattled invaders and caused disarray.

Heroes for life, heroes by will.
May they live long, heroes of kargil.

Heroes who even suffered and cried,
shed only the tears of vengeance.
Heroes who even bled and died,
bled only to sing heroic sentence.

Heroes who always served the mankind,
on surrendering many invaders were spared.
Heroes who set example of a kind,
bar none and only respect they cared.

Heroes who desire nothing but a spark,
enough to enlighten a force so brave.
Heroes who crave nothing but a mark,
visible enough if they march to grave.

Heroes who dared and cared for nation,
hungry in heat, rain and cold to kill
Heroes who're desperate for another invasion,
to answer again like they did in kargil.

Heroes for life, heroes by will.
May they live long, heroes of kargil.

A lovely depiction of courage and valour in defense of motherland. A beautiful tribute to all heroes of Kargil, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. A lovely poem with good rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing Kaustubh. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
