Hey World, Stop (An Anthem For Childrem) Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Hey World, Stop (An Anthem For Childrem)

Hey World!
Stop!
Take a look at me (me! , me! , me! - said by each child individually)
We are your children,
Can't you see, we are your gifts
Wrapped in all colors of skin...
Open the door to opportunity
And let us in!

Open your hearts, your arms!
We have come today to sound the alarm! (stomp feet)
It shouldn't matter if we are
Yellow, White, Black, Brown or Red,
Look us in the eye,
Not over our heads.

Hey World, Stop!
Don't yell at me or scream!
Stop stumping on my dreams!

We are the future
Cloak us in the armor of truth.
Raise us with sincerety!
Pave the way without bigotry!

Hey World, stop!
Take a real good look...
We are the children,
Truth is our destiny!
We are your children!
We are your children!
We are your children!
Give us a world of harmony!
Hey World, Stop!

Hello Dorothy, I can see where children would love this - I agree, it would give them a chance to be loud, not rowdy. Very well done. Love, CJ
