Hiatus Poem by Mona Adviento

Hiatus

it’s time.
that forbidding moment when the call comes through,
through a lighted path, straight on, without faltering
steeled against the wiles of empathy and regret
hemorrhaging violently, nerves shot to the bone.
I hesitate once, and that’s all I can afford
to walk on I must
away into tomorrow and break the cords that have housed my soul
soft lace lulling memories, shifting shapes colored by the sunlight
a vast blue, engulfing from a a terrestrial standpoint
yet home.

I see your faces in the dim light and I look away
in fear that I may be weakened by your affections..
yet you bid me, away
for you know me too well to make me stay
I see your eyes so despairing, in the hope of an ever after.
yet

it is done, I am mine again and shall be so for now til I find another fire
that will burn me into consciousness
stay in my slumber, my visions of you and of our homes on the mountains
atop the clouds.
Stay in my reverie, as
I
lift off to seek the legend I seek.

it’s time to
leave
you
in this place and time
where I once called you mine.

I’m taking all of me.
let me live in you, in memory..
