High School Epic Poem by Natasha Muriuki

High School Epic

Walking though those doors,
fear radiated from me,
Absegami high.

Armed with very few words
Of encouragement to start
Me on this journey.

I make my way past
A crazy mass of students
In this here jungle.

No class is ever
A favorite in this school
I sure hate it here.

Period 9/10
With señora what's her face
Oh, Pooja, you know!

The halls are a tad
Better with her there to pass
Great survival tips

Young new fluffy love.
Step before the truth comes out:
Here is the sad truth...

He doesn't love you!
Relationships in high school,
Utter hell. How sad!

Friendship however,
Begins in a quick heartbeat.
Sparking like fire.

My heart palpitates,
You love pizza, do you not?
Instant best best friends!

All jokes to the side,
I don't know what I would do
Without my best friend.

Promise me you'll be back?
You are not even gone yet,
But the distance grows.

The future scares me.
Will you still be by my side?
Cait, I'm super scared!

Over these long years,
I have truly so much.
Like cooking chicken!

And also how easy
Friendships can sprout anywhere,
Like across the street.

Not everybody
Shares the same interests as you
And that is okay.

Bare shoulders are a
Big invitation to rape,
In absegami.

Learn to be modest,
It is the best policy!
Learn to be modest.

The tools to survive
Are not always guns and knives.
Attitude helps too!

Just the right dosage,
Used right, they get you out of,
Fights, plays and homework.

These lessons learned here,
Should be passed down to new kids
Beginning high school.
