High School Epic Poem by Samantha Blackman

High School Epic

It's your first day of freshman year
You've got your brand new shoes on,
And all the unnecessary material items
To make anyone your "friend"
You clasp your sweaty palms together
As you walk off the bus,
And into the school you've heard
So much about
"This will be the best 4 years of your life." They say.
And you're not sure they're right.
You have to ask about 7 people
Where your first class is.
You see your best friend and run and sit next to her.
Only for her to bitterly say,
"That's not your seat."
Tears of pure embarrassment fill your eyes,
As everyone watches you
Find your assigned seat. You sink into your chair and
Listen to a lesson on irony.
After 1st period,
You have to ask every teacher
Where your class is.
You can't believe how "horrible" high school is,
But it gets easier.

Its sophomore year,
And things are looking up
Your first period class
Is the one you look forward to most,
Because rather than your classmates
Judging you for your creativity,
They all embrace it.
But, with all good comes bad,
And volleyball is possibly the worst
Elective ever.
You despise gym all because
Of one kid who spiked the ball
Into your face,
And broke you glasses completely.
As school years continue,
Friends are beginning to slip away.
They spread thing s about you that
You don't even know about yourself
You wonder
If they were ever your friends
At all
But for every friend you've lost,
You've gained plenty more.
A boy leads you on and lies to you,
And you begin to grow feelings for someone else.
The turn out looks hazy,
Considering you went in for a hug and
Spilled coffee down his back.
Buuut,
He guesses' he can put it behind you two.
As the years progress,
Your grades are excelling.
You have honor roll.
You even think you know what you want to be
Schoolwork is all you've done as of late
So you begin to sleep and cry
Way more.
You're getting a little taller,
But you still can't seem
To gain weight
You guess it could be worse.
Suddenly,
Quicker than you think you can even blink,
It's the last day of senior year.
You, clasp your sweaty palms together
As you walk off the bus and into the school
You've said so much about.
"This will be the best 4 years of your life; they said
And you're so sure they were right
Later that day,
You step up to accept your diploma.
Tears of pure happiness
Fill your eyes,
As everyone watches you
Walk back to your seat
You couldn't believe how "horrible"
High school was,
But it got easier.

I almost had forgotten how difficult those high school years could be...everyone trying to find where they fit in......and then, before you know it, graduation finds you all on the brink of the rest of your life.....ans throughout life the memories of high school never fully fade. PEACE
