His Mind Was Elsewhere Poem by Francis Duggan

His Mind Was Elsewhere

Rating: 5.0

He did not reply when to him I said good day
His eyes towards the ground he did not look my way
His spirits not lifted by the splendid sunshine
His problems it does seem far greater than mine
Of my presence it did seem he was unaware
With head bowed as he walked towards the ground he did stare
Only he himself knows what is wrong in his life
Maybe before he left home he had harsh words with his wife
And on her in silence he revenges his mind
For moodiness always an excuse to find
The birds on the bushes and trees were on song
But joy was not with him as he walked along
He did not notice me as if I was not there
He had his own troubles his mind was elsewhere.
