Hit And Run Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Hit And Run

You hit and run
Even at the point of gun
Innocent and poor
Shall seek justice from door to door

One character was holding fire arms
So much to aim for and causing harm
Justice was upheld
The culprit has been punished

The actor had manipulated
His driver was intoxicated
Just show managed witness
Justice has rubbed their faces

With money power
You can fire
You can crush the dwellers
The give some money as back out offer

It has hit head lines
He will be sent to prison with fines
Previously too he was booked
Now let us see whether he is let off or hooked

7 May,2015 TO: Mr. Hasmukh Mehta Now let us see whether he is let off or hooked Prediction is easy ~ if He already has blessings of the ruling party, he'll be 'let off' else he'll be 'hooked'. But the story need not necessarily end here. If He is found 'promising' while in the 'Correctional Home'(read, police custody) , the ruling party may even consider to 'baptize' Him into the 'ruling party' for better use of him in future. WE must remember the prophetic words of George Orwell; ALL ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL' This is the curse and bliss of our secularist democracy. Puttu Kulkarni, Hegde, Kumta, Karnataka - 5813 May 09,2015

May 2015 TO: Mr. Hasmukh Mehta Dear Hashmukh-ji, By virtue of the full-text of your poem more skeletons have come out of the cupboard. Now, I can identify the culprit who hit the headline recently and recall all the newspaper reportage of his hypocrisy and his vile attempts to evade justice. It is your genius to pick up even relatively insignificant events, which nevertheless betray deep malaise in our society, and give those a poetical shape. I try to read some postings in MI apparently interesting, surely including yours, as much as my severe neurotic problems permit.Of course, I don't attempt to respond to all to minimize strain on my nerves. Yours sincerely, Rajat Das Gupta Rajat Das Gupta, Kolkata May 08,2015
