Hold Myself So - Poem by Mark R. Elias

Gonna stop eating. Claim my thin.
Slip out of this fat I'm in.
Wear my hair someways. Dress fine.
Be my fathom of divine.
Brush my cheek. With my own hand.
So that I understand
I hold myself, hold myself so.

Gonna be dancing. While I smile.
While I'm missed by quite a mile.
Gonna dance on your arm while/when
You quickly look like other men.
And I'll brush my cheek. With my own hand.
So that I understand
I hold myself, hold myself so.

Gonna stop moving. Claim my stance.
Bow out of our song-less dance.
Fling my heart sideways. Be fine.
Learn I'm not yours. Learn I'm mine.
Grasp my motives. See horizons
As the heart its destinations.
Hold myself. Hold myself so.
