Hold On... Poem by MidnightBlue 12

Hold On...

Rating: 5.0

Another day of life having to play pretend,
Better avoiding questions, we try not to offend.
Trapped in a world which we do not belong,
Hiding behind masks afraid of doing wrong.

How many people do You need to be, You ask,
Before You can become Yourself, be free of mask?
When it's in your mind that all begins and ends,
Why give them power over You, to what extent?

So insidious depression is with no end in sight,
Thick fog in a cage, breathless you're losing fight.
Unbearable thoughts keep weighing you down
The dark grabs hold and you're about to drown.

And morning hits the hardest when you lie in wait,
Although time moves always at the same rate.
The once-forgotten ghost's torments are back,
With hunting voices and seeping in more doubt.

The never-ending battle questioning yourself,
Weak mind feeding to change in someone else.

You've only wished for peace, to stop all noises,
Too tired to think, stunned of your own choices.
And so you go for what's hidden in the drawer,
Swallowing dry once, last glimpse at your door.

Feeling at ease, a blurr in the weightless cloud,
Expanding shadows, your insides screaming loud.
All gone with a flash, tears blinding your sight,
Everything just vanished at the speed of light.

Faceless enemy's battle is lost, and mind reigns
When poisoned words cut deep into your veins.
Life's teeth piercing your now wounded heart,
Not a tattoo, but failure and a bruise will start.

With a frown on your face worry surface light,
Few teardrops slip through eyelids shut tight.
Faint echo carries voices you've heard before,
With words you wish they will say no more...

You can't see, but know and feel they're there,
No will to understand nor signs that they care,
The silent battles that's happening inside you,
Having to hide your struggle of simply being you.

One's weakness, feeling scared to fall again,
Yet bravely rise to find your strength attain.

If there's one way that you could be saved...
To be a shield on your journey's new road paved.
Don't let it be you who's worth you cannot see,
Have faith in your ability to change and be free.

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,
May looking back in memory help comfort us tomorrow.
The past that we cannot change, but learn from it
And every time we loose, hold on we'll never quit.

Hold On...
