Holding Back God Poem by RAJ NANDY

Holding Back God

Rating: 5.0

HOLDING BACK GOD!

What if, after having created the sky, the earth,
and the entire firmament, -
And man in his own image;
God had decided to vanish on the seventh day? !
Would it have made any difference?
Does it make any difference even today?
A hypothetical question you might say!
But don't we humans still, murder, plunder
and rape,
At our free will?
We have defiled both the earth and the sky,
Punching a hole through the crystal dome of
the firmament,
Damaging the protective ozone layer in outer
space!
Ushering in global warming with high carbon
content!
Even the blue sky has slowly started to melt, -
Like the glaciers at the poles!
And the melted stream of pure blue effulgence, -
Comes oozing forth through the poet's pen!
As he sits to write with a mixture of cobalt
and cerulean blue;
Blending the colours of the sea on earth, and
that of the sky!

The poet remains both apprehensive and hopeful,
That his words would bring forth a change;
And some day rid this earth of hatred, lust and
greed;
Before the colour of his ink change to scarlet
blood red!
With civilised humans destroying themselves,
at their own free will!
The poet continues to hope and pray,
That the earthlings would perform the long
overdue penance,
And correct themselves before it gets too late!
To hold back God from disappearing altogether;
Making Him to relent, to stay back for a while,
To give us a last chance, while there is still
some time!

(Perhaps now I begin to understand why the
French Nitzsche said, ' My God is dead! ')

man in his greed completely overlooked the divine plan. Raj, this a realphiosophical write and the anguish of a true poet comes through. you have raised some very crucial questions. Mamta
