Holiday Poem by Brady Scott

Holiday

Summertime, sand castles and seaside jollies
Sunshine, sunscreen and melting ice lollies
The feel of the sand as it slips through your toes
The smell of the air as it goes up your nose.

Fruit salad and sandwiches, shorts and flip-flops
Postcards, knick-knacks and rock from the shop
Cockles, Mussels, buckets and spades
Long summer strolls along long esplanades.

Rock pools, seaweed and crabs scurrying by
The terns and the seagulls soar up in the sky
Tides coming in, tides going out
Children and adults run laugh and shout.

Games, giggles deckchairs and beach
Sky, ships, sailing boats, just out of reach
Kites, surfers, sunbathers and laughter
Memories, happiness, tales to tell after.

Fish, chips, funfairs and thrills
Sunset, dusk, cool air brings us chills
Back to the chalet and into the shower
Onto the bed and asleep in an hour.

Family holidays are always the best
But I can't wait to get home
because I need a rest.
