Hollow Hearted Poem by faith toney

Hollow Hearted

the hollow heart that lays beneath my skin
it pounds off beat to my breath
sore deep within
staring into a dull black and white world
time goes by as if its free
I look up at the sight above me
looking into their weeping eyes
feeling no remorse to regret
unspoken word tumble over studders
a gift was given
a owner in disbelief
they walked away with the pain
as I sat their with the smirk on my face
pleased with the damage I caused
they got my point clearly now
as they did to me I returned the unfair forgivable favor
my heart did not give out
tears weren’t present
deep thoughts got torn and thrashed around my mind
light and dark right and wrong
got all smeared together in my bold act
confidence and self pressure
consumed my irrational process
and in the end I became the one who sits alone in the corner of silence
listening for a dead reminder of what was throw away
I do not speak unless spoken to
I do not tell unless asked
gossip is only a story worth hearing once
to be told is bring bad fate to your burdens
but that’s just what a hollow hearted soul has to say
