Hollowed Ice Poem by Courtney Beaudry

Hollowed Ice

My flesh is warm
but that does nothing for my cold heart
Which beats out-of-step
and is not up to par
Try as I may
to rekindle its life
All I can see
is this endless strife

I am lost
and you can't find me
I am lost
by these chains that bind me
Who am I to try and stay
when all that's left, all that lays
is this empty shell
of who I cannot be

What I had
and what I've tried
Has left nothing
but what I hide
Those thoughts that plague me
From some distant dream
Have yet to reveal just what they mean
