Holy City Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Holy City

Carriages carry the ignoble soul
Black as coming war
She believes in the Pyramids
She writhes like a witch of capital
Our institutions are corrupt
Bowers of the great caliphate
Fiery chariot brings back Elijah
Moses and the plagues
Plowshares beaten into swords
Golden Shofar

Her Goddess gown full of journalists
Watch the clocks of Persia
Follow the tents of Ishmael
Hear the wings of gargoyles
Watch the rise of the false one
Michael fights for Jacob
Plants of Eden hide the adder
Knowledge is a dwarf against revelation
We share the stars of Masada
Jacobs trouble and the goats and sheep

The Holy City with everlasting gates
