Homage To The Homeless - Poem by Tim Caffery

I see your broken shoulders
Those limestone boulders
I see your flaw and smell it too
The pity you claim is as pathetic as you
Poor black woman, young or old
You're not worth being bought or sold
Broken vet who can't forget
Who's only home is pure regret
Your piss stained pants
Crazy dances & scary rants
Your bags and carts
Your breath, your body, your desperate art
Your lies behind your shattered eyes
The way you live your civilized lives
The fear so real it's fake
The just due for a certain mistake
Your unwillingness to live or die
Makes me wish you could at least try
