Home Is A Rockpool Poem by Sebastian Seal

Home Is A Rockpool

Home is a rockpool
On the western side of a Farne Island.
In the winter it freezes overnight.
Awakening encased in ice,
It gives me such a fright.
Home is a rockpool
On the western side of a Farne Island.

My friends have better rockpools
On the eastern side of a Farne Island.
Their rockpools are much nicer.
Heated water, jacuzzi,
Automatic de-icer.
Much better rockpools
On the eastern side of a Farne Island.

I can swim from the mainland
To the western side of a Farne Island.
It is not far from the shore,
Only three miles or so,
Not much more.
I can swim from the mainland
To the western side of a Farne Island.

My rockpool is safety
On the western side of a Farne Island
I can escape the sharks,
avoid the squids,
and yodel with the larks.
Home is a rockpool
On the western side of a Farne Island.
