Home Is Where Our War Is Poem by Elaine Harris

Home Is Where Our War Is

There's war in our streets
senseless murders are numbered
families shattered in grief
struggling to remember

Whose side are they on
these hostile warriors
what possible reason
do they have for these murders

Do you have an idea
who has laid out this plan
who's working through the media
the words of godless men

Finger pointing and blaming
irresponsible rhetoric
frenzied by words
anger ignighted so easily

Hatred carried and magnified
seething in their hearts
no thought to the future
willing to play out their parts

In society's destruction
crumbling around us
violence is raging
the gunshots resounding

Effects ripple out
in bloody carnage
murderers thoughtlessy
acting out rage

Our future lay dying
in dark, bloody pools
brought to destruction
by so many fools

I hope writing this poem helps you deal with the strong emotion you are feeling. Nicely done.
