Honest Abe Poem by Ginny Cadle

Honest Abe

Abraham Lincoln was born on 2-12-1809 in the state of Kentucky
He would become an effective and resourceful attorney
He worked as a salesclerk in a store
He steered the Union to win the Civil war
He was smart and tall
He was well known by all
He was a very popular guy
He was called Honest Abe because he wouldn't lie
In 1860 he became the 16th president of the United States
Slavery was the one thing he did hate
There was a lot of hostility
After Abe set the slaves free
Mary Todd is the woman who became his wife
John Booth is the man that put an end to his life
On April 4th 1865 at the Ford Theater John put a bullet in Abe's head
On April 5th 1865 Abe Lincoln was pronounced dead.
