Honey Melon Poem by Kelly Zion

Honey Melon

Baby, be my honey melon,
baby, be my cricket wings,
baby, in the springtime rain
sing me honey melon melodies.

Baby, be my cricket wings,
baby, be my honey-love,
baby, with your violins
turn the stars into black seagulls.

Baby, with violet violins
make the cemetery sing
because the broken honey melons
grow flowers on all these graves.

Oh baby, be my honey melon,
I'll be your honey dew,
baby, be sweet forever
and I'll always be there for you.

Oh baby, be sweet forever,
I'll be your cantaloupe
baby, when the sun is setting
we can both elope.

Baby, I'll be your cantaloupe,
baby, be my honey melon,
baby, come take me home
before I'm all evaporated.

Baby, if I shrivel up and die,
if I evaporate,
baby, if the sun leers longer
we can't spread our cricket wings.

Baby, be my honey melon,
baby, be my cricket wings,
baby, in the springtime rain
sing me honey melon melodies.
