Hopeful Wanderer Poem by Valerie Colangelo

Hopeful Wanderer

Though I may walk alone, I am never alone,
Truly alone because I have the world
Holding me steady as I meander through
The valleys, on top of mountains, clicking
My heels upon cobble-stoned paths,
Past the oceans that beat to the same rhythm
Of my soulful heart. That sound of freedom -
Sweet, passionate, ravishing freedom
Rushing through my veins. It presses me
Onward to new discoveries, to experience
The culture that I am deprived
From in this stationary life. Nothing
Can tie me down, nothing can put me in chains
To keep me from feeling the grass between
My toes, from the sun warming a fire inside
Of me, telling me that ‘darling, you are
My moon-child, my little daisy love so full
Of goodness and light. Keep shining for me
Because you embody the happiness
That will never succumb to the darkness
That has been created.' I will continue
To wander freely upon this earth
With nothing,
Nothing but the sun guiding me
Because "Not all those who wander are lost."

evidently deeply felt and emotive ideas and experiences have flown out in poetic fluency. may appear general and out of focus, but to me they appear nicely written neat lines liked
